Stephenie Backes has always had a passion for decorating and design.

“I love to plan and host social events,” she said. “I am always looking for a way to take an event to the next level, oftentimes designing and creating my own party decorations.”

Stephenie had previously used Printsocial to print her wedding invitations.

“I was really happy with my experience working with them on that project,” she said.

Therefore, it was only natural that she reach out to Printsocial for her sister’s baby shower.

For the shower, Stephenie ordered invitations, notecards, and postcards. The postcards were used for the various baby shower activities.

“It really rounded out the elegant feel I wanted to convey with the shower theme,” Stephenie said. “Having everything look the same really took the event up a notch. Everyone who attended commented on how much they loved them.”

There's always a story behind every print order.

Having had only positive experiences thus far, Stephenie plans to use Printsocial for all future print products.

“They’ve become my go-to for all my printing needs,” she said.

7 Essentials for Making Your Pop-Up Shop Pop

With the price of brick-and-mortar retail stores continuing to rise, particularly in larger cities, more and more entrepreneurs have turned to online business storefronts interspersed with the occasional pop-up shop. In simplest terms, a “pop-up shop” is a temporary retail location that emerges for a few hours or days on street corners, at festivals, in malls, and at major public events. They’re designed to make a permanent impact with your audience, giving you the opportunity to build stronger relationships with your customers.

How Are Pop-Up Shops Beneficial?

Although these shops can be very profitable, companies of all sizes are investing more into this temporary retail phenomenon for branding purposes. Research has shown that localized assortments, optimal pricing, unique service/products, convenience, and an enjoyable experience are key things pop-up shoppers are searching for.

That’s not to say that financial profitability is taking a back seat by any means. Expert Humayun Khan explains in his Shopify article how they can be lucrative because you’re able to engage with customers in a unique way without having to fully invest in a new store or location.

Introduce New Products

Pop-up shops also give business owners the opportunity to test new products. Many consumers have a hard time parting with their money when they haven’t had the chance to test the product out. This is perhaps one of the greatest hurdles e-commerce struggles with. Through this temporary retail shop, you’re giving a select number of customers the chance to explore your new and exciting items. Furthermore, they’re able to touch, test, and/or try on everything. Those who do have a chance to test your new inventory are sure to share its high quality and cool factor.

Music Pop-up shopsGive business owners the opportunity to test new products to different audiences.

Consumer Education

For those businesses with complex offerings, new formulations, or a special mission, these shops can explain to customers an in-depth, in-person demonstration; you’re giving them a clearer idea of who you are. Rather than simply selling a product, this environment makes the customer feel like the brand is instead educating them.

Immerse Them In Brand Messaging

Brand messaging is a crucial component that can make or break your business; it’s the promise you make to your customer. In creating an immersive experience, you’re giving your customers the opportunity to experience your brand on a whole other level, which empowers them.

However, in order to achieve this, your product quality, imagery, and lifestyle message must be consistent. Furthermore, the temporary spaces you create should provide an environment that makes your brand feel approachable and attainable.

Best Practices In Marketing Your Pop-Up Shop

There’s a lot that goes into a successful event, but the majority of the success can be directly tied back to marketing initiatives. It’s important to build buzz and anticipation for your event well before your shop is scheduled to open. Beginning promotion during the planning stages will help your brand get the most bang for your marketing budget.

There are four main marketing strategies you generally use: social media, email marketing, traditional media marketing, and guerrilla marketing.

Social Media

With all of the different platforms available, social media marketing may seem daunting at first. That’s why it’s important to build an editorial calendar for your social strategy, featuring all of the platforms you plan to be active on. Whether it’s Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, or Tumblr, an editorial calendar will make it more manageable. Start with a “key words” document, a word bank that aligns with your brand message, promise, and values. Hootsuite, Buffer, and Later are three popular social media programs that can help put your plan into motion.

Perhaps one of the most important social media strategies is picking the right hashtag. Although it’s often overlooked, the right hashtag creates uniformity across your multi-channel campaign, giving you the opportunity to track, measure and engage with your key customers. Struggling with your hashtag? According to Shopify blog “Marketing Your Pop-Up Shop Pt. 2,” here are the questions you need to be asking yourself:

  • Are people already using the hashtag in conversations?
  • Is your hashtag easy to understand?
  • Is your hashtag catchy and memorable?
  • Is your hashtag easily relatable to your brand?
  • Is your hashtag short and concise?

Bonus Tip: When using your hashtag, it’s best to capitalize the first words as it makes it easier to ready. Example: #mondaymotivation would be #MondayMotivation.

Now that you’ve picked your hashtag for your shop’s social media campaign, you can implement other social media marketing.

Email Marketing

Email Marketing is particularly beneficial to those with an existing brand, as they’re more likely to have a robust list of newsletter subscribers. Because these customers have shown that they’re loyal to your brand, you definitely need to let them know about your upcoming shop launch. Create an email campaign that features event details with current customers and builds anticipation in your subscriber base.

It’s also great to set up when creating your website. Email marketing allows customers to sign up and cultivate interest in your business and products. Ultimately, it’s a great way to keep them in the know with news, products, upcoming events, coupons, locations and more.

Build stronger relationships with your customers with Pop-up Shops

Traditional Media

To effectively target traditional media outlets, it’s important to remember these two things: Make their job easier by pitching content they can use and know their publishing timelines. Generally speaking, you’ll want to aim around two months prior to the event for local print, and two weeks before when pitching to online media. Also, make sure that you’re not sending out generic email blasts with your press release. Rather, have a unique and targeted message for each media outlet based on what they cover and their readership’s values.

Guerrilla Marketing

Guerrilla Marketing is an alternative advertising style that utilizes unconventional marketing strategies, high energy, and imagination. Its purpose is to take potential customers by surprise, making an unforgettable impression and creating copious amounts of social buzz. This marketing strategy is great when in a high traffic area. Create custom rack cards with a clear call-to-action and coupon code to hand out or place at nearby outlets with a similar clientele to your target market.

Tourists are always looking for something fun to discover and bring home something unique when visiting a new place. Why not drop some rack cards off at a nearby hotel’s concierge desk? Where else might your targeted demographic interact? Canvas those areas. While you want to think outside the box, remember to stay within the lines of your goals and your target customer’s lifestyle.

Ultimately, you don’t have to be a household brand to form relationships with followers and customers and to be successful. What matters most is that you are ready to have fun, and be open-minded and willing to take advantage of the different ways pop-ups can open doors for your business.

Fall is here, which means the school year is in full force and teachers are working hard to impart their knowledge to students. World Teacher’s Day, also known as International Teacher’s Day, is held annually on October 5th.

Beginning in 1994, the celebration aims to raise awareness of the important role teachers play all over the world and commemorates them for their contributions to society. It also aims to mobilize support for teachers and to ensure that the needs of future generations will be met by teachers.

Here are some of our favorite ways to recognize our community’s teachers.

For the Coffee Lovers

Gift baskets are never a bad idea, especially when coffee is involved. Find a funky mug and drop the gift card to their favorite coffee spot in there along with a bag of chocolate covered coffee beans and a couple sticks of biscotti.

For Their Set of Bookworms

A classroom set of bookmarks will help teachers keep their students on the right page. Bookmarks aren’t just for English classes either. Not only can a bookmark be used as a practical placeholder for their books, its canvas can host educational information, such as commonly misspelled word, introducing Spanish vocabulary, multiplication tables, or converting one of the bookmark’s edges into a ruler.

For the Thoughtful Ones

Teachers give a lot of feedback. Make their letters stand out with their very own personalized notecards. Incorporate fun patterns, prints, and typography that’s sure to highlight their personality.

Customized teacher note cards is the perfect gift that can be used to recognize your community’s teachers.

For Those Who Gotta Catch ‘Em All!

If you’re looking to do something a little more fun and creative, try teacher trading cards. Add a photograph of the teacher with his or her name on one side. On the back, you can list their “stats,” such as the grade level taught, the years spent working in this profession, their hobbies, and even a fun fact about them. Teachers will get a kick out of this memento, and students will clamor to receive one.

For the Green Thumbs

Flowering and non-flowering plants are a great gift for the classroom. Orchids are ideal as a long lasting gift; once it finishes blooming, it does not die. Rather, it enters a resting period. With proper care, orchid owners can help their orchids bloom again and again. For those looking for a hardier plant, succulents are the perfect gift. Because they are notoriously low maintenance, they are perfect even for the person with a less-than-green thumb. Unique and practical, succulent arrangements come in all shapes and sizes.

Bonus Tip:
Add a hang tag with a heartfelt note such as “Thanks for helping me grow!” or “Teachers plant the seeds of knowledge that will grow forever!”

Print with Purpose

Is there a school that’s near and dear to your heart? You can give 5% of your print orders back to them by having them join our Print with Purpose program.

It’s peak brewery season, and craft breweries across the United States are continuing to boom. According to Beverage Dynamics, craft beer has surpassed 10% of the overall country’s beer industry for the first time since Prohibition. With smaller breweries continuing to pop up, it’s even more crucial to make sure your brewery stands out from the crowd. Below are some marketing material essentials to best showcase your brew.

Advertise your local brewery to build an audience.

Marketing Materials

Posters

Breweries are no longer simply venues for you to down a few🍺. They’re the new hotspot for yoga classes and trivia nights, the finishing line for brewery run clubs, and the hosts for local pop-up shop events, mini concerts, and chili cook-offs. With all of the available activities now available at breweries, it’s important to get the word out. Posters are a great way to advertise around your community. Collaborate with local photographers or graphic designers to come up with captivating images for your next shindig.

Business Cards

The competition is only going to get stronger in the microbrewery world, so it’s important for your business card to excite future business partners and customers. Your custom business cards should give them the promise of something better than the larger brewers while, at the same time, displaying your wonderful uniqueness compared to other smaller breweries.

Marketing with print materials for local brewery is crucial to make sure your brewery stands out from the crowd

Menu Cards (Rack Cards)

Menu cards are the perfect canvas to highlight images of your craft brew selection and brewery’s amenities while tying in crucial detail such as hours of operation, beer menu, event calendar, and more. Custom rack cards are ideal to place in locations with lots of foot traffic, and they can be shared easily by handing out at events and festivals of all sizes.

Stickers

Make it easy for people to show brand pride. Logo stickers are always a hit, especially at festivals. While some may opt to cover themselves in stickers during the event, others collect them as mementos from the experience, sticking them on laptops, coolers, binders, bicycles, and even on the back of vehicles.

Showcase your brewery’s unique personality with a bit of marketing flair.

Create a “wedding wishes” station that allows your wedding guests to write pieces of advice for your wedded bliss and hang them up on a decorative metal tree or string them up as part of your decorations. As the night goes on, you’ll see thoughtful and loving messages from your family and closest friends, wishing you a lifetime of love and happiness.

Use Hang Tags as Wedding Well Wishes

Magnets

Postcards

They can also be used as a wedding itinerary to keep your guests in the know. Postcards can be used as a list to-dos for guests unfamiliar with the city or a list of bride and groom’s favorite restaurants or local hot spots. Be creative and tell a story on why you have chosen this location: first date, favorite to-go restaurant, a must stop for local cuisine, etc.

Roll Labels

Custom roll labels are a great way to personalize one of the gifts. Get creative! Use them to label mason jars Custom printed roll labels can be used to label mason jars for a candy bar table or decorate a complimentary wine bottle for your guests.

Reception Goodies

Flip-Flops

Most weddings are traditionally semi-dressy or formal. So, it might be a surprise to see flip-flops listed as one of our wedding gift bag swag. Because wedding attire is traditionally formal, dress shoes are commonplace. By the time the dancing starts at the reception, many find themselves with sore feet. Flip-flops are a great impromptu way to dance the night away in comfort.  Get ready to dance the night away with some of these popular songs!

  • “Gangnam Style” by Psy
  • “Cupid Shuffle” by Cupid
  • “Cha Cha Slide” by DJ Casper
  • “Electric Boogie” by Marcia Griffiths
  • “Thriller” by Michael Jackson

Wine Glasses

Engraved wine glasses with your names and wedding date are a classy way for your guests to remember your nuptials. What’s great is that you can cut costs by using them not only as a gift but as the wine glasses for the reception dinner.

Koozies

Koozies are a great low-key gift that’ll keep your drinks cold long after the reception ends. Pick a koozie that matches your color scheme, and customize it with typography and art that honors your wedding day.

Disposable Camera

A picture is said to be worth a thousand words. However, sometimes we can become so engrossed in our digital devices, perfecting photo angles and lighting, that we forget to enjoy the moment. Photograph those carefree candid shots with disposable cameras instead. Place a couple on each table; that way those of all ages have the opportunity to capture the festivities.

This cultural belief is one that every businessperson should follow, as business cards as essentially a miniature canvas showcasing your career identity. Whether you’re networking at a social event or sitting down for a formal business dinner, it’s important to make sure you’re prepared; you never know who could be your next customer.

As a new business, your job is to increase brand awareness. This oversized postcard is ideal for placing your company’s logo and contact information. Everyone loves sales and coupons, so those are also excellent to place on your postcard. 😍

Banners

There’s a sense of pride and excitement when you first hang up your brand new banner outside your storefront. Banners are a lively and colorful way to show you’re the new kid in town. They’re also a quick and easy way to announce your business and a personal message.

Flags

If your business is constantly on the move, these durable flags are a great marketing tool to have. Compact and easy to set up, these pieces of movable media can give a powerful punch to any booth or pop up shop.

Looking to grab a quick bite to eat? Food trucks are the #trending eatery for foodies.

These restaurants on wheels are commonplace across the country now. According to columnist John White at Inc. Magazine, food trucks are projected to be a $2.7 billion industry in 2017. That’s fourfold from where it was back in 2012 when food trucks began their mainstream appearance.

With the popularity of food trucks continuing to rise, the competition has become even fiercer. Television shows such as Food Truck Face Off and The Great Food Truck Race have taken off. That’s why it’s important to have the tools that’ll make your food truck capture the most customers.

Marketing for Food Truck Owners

Rack Cards

Rack Cards are perfect to showcase your menu items while tying in crucial details such as your regular locations for the month and social media platforms. These cost effective rack cards are great for highlighting monthly promotions and are easy to hand out. Put them on picnic tables during food truck rallies or place one in the bag with a customer’s order.

Business Cards

Business cards don’t have to be cut and dry. Get creative! They are the perfect compact billboard for your company. In addition to traditional contact information, you can add your social media handles. Encourage your customers to tweet and Instagram their foodie experience with you. When posting your own content, think of other hashtags that would be applicable outside of your food truck’s name. For example, if your specialty is Mexican street fare, engage on #tacotuesdays. This will increase your probability of coming across during a search. Include your location in hashtags as well.

You can also utilize the back of your business card as a canvas for loyalty points. Reward loyal customers with small incentives, such as a stamp for every $5 spent, leading up to a free meal combo.

Encourage Clients to Post Food Pics with Business Cards

Stickers

Stickers are a fun and creative way to advertise your brand. Add your logo along with your Twitter or Instagram handle. These stickers can be put on anything, from skateboards to laptops on college campuses, giving your traveling truck maximum exposure.
